Neither of these docks worked with the Mac before I upgraded the OS and DIsplayLink drivers. ^^This was the key.^^ Once I upgraded the Mac to macOS10.14 (Mojave) and DisplayLink 5 drivers, I was able to get the Mac to work with the Kensington SD4700P (recommended above.) More importantly though, I was able to get the Mac to work with the Kensington SD3500V and the Targus Dock130.
